ELGIN, IL – Judson University’s Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts (DCWPA) is honored to welcome members of the Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra for a special concert on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel (1151 N. State Street, Elgin, IL 60123). This free event is open to the public and no tickets are required.
The performance will feature an eight-member traveling ensemble led by conductor Angela Inkyung Sohn. This talented group represents a subset of the full 35-member Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra, originally founded in 1999 at Onnuri Church in South Korea. What makes this ensemble especially unique and inspiring is that it is comprised entirely of musicians with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The hour-long concert will feature a diverse mix of classical music, hymn arrangements, and engaging, family-friendly selections sure to delight audience members of all ages.
The Onnuri Sarang Chamber Orchestra has graced stages across the globe, with over 600 live performances to its name, including notable appearances at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, Yale School of Medicine, and Stanford University’s Dinkelspiel Auditorium, as well as numerous television features.
