When it was time for Nikki Dobson to consider colleges, this Carpentersville, Ill., native knew Judson would be a great option. At Judson, Nikki could be close to home, run track, and grow her faith while studying science.
Nikki is studying Biology and Chemistry on the path to become a Physician’s Assistant.
“From a young age, I have always been intrigued by the chemical, biological, and physical processes, thus pursuing a science degree was a natural route for me,” Nikki said. She is eager to combine her love for science with her care for people in the medical field.
In correlation with her studies, Nikki has been working as a Corporate Information Intern at Bosch. Originally, the internship showed her the business and tech sides of healthcare. Her current roles as a nutritional assistant and diet clerk allow her to partner with others and ensure the best possible care for hospital patients. Nikki says, “Both experiences have been great opportunities and they have allowed me to apply my degree in a professional setting.”
Nikki has also been an integral member of the Track Team and the Judson Student Organization (JSO) during her time at Judson. She ran track her first three years and has served in different roles on JSO, including Student Government specialist, Commuter President, and JSO President. Through her responsibilities to listen to students, be their voice, and support them, Nikki has tapped into her passion for helping others: “I thoroughly enjoy getting to know others and being present in their lives.”
Nikki, who plans to work as a Physician’s Assistant in Dermatology or Family Medicine, has felt prepared for a career in healthcare by the rigorous classes and caring professors at Judson.
“As mentors, my professors have served as great resources and Christ-like leaders,” she said. “All the professors in the Math and Science Department genuinely want the best for each student and are very thorough in their explanation and focus on all subjects offered.”
As she nears graduation this May, Nikki remarked, “Judson will always hold a special place in my heart. In this community, I have had the opportunity to meet many people from all different walks of life. These people have all blessed me with unique experiences and memories that I will never forget.”
