Adjunct Instructor of Physical Activity Assessment and Measurement

Job Summary:

The Department of Exercise & Sport Science seeks adjunct instructor(s) to teach ESS450 Physical Activity Assessment and Measurement (3 course hours)

Primary Responsibilities:

Adjunct instructors are responsible for creating appropriate lesson plans and assignments, grading papers, conducting appropriate assessments of student learning based on program objectives, holding regular office hours, and submitting midterm and final grades.

Class Description for ESS450: Physical Activity Assessment and Measurement (3 Course Hours): This course focuses on the selection, construction, and interpretation of various assessments related to health promotion and physical performance. Students will gain an in-depth understanding of the tools and methods used to measure physical activity, as well as the importance of valid and reliable assessment practices. Emphasis will be placed on applying basic statistical analyses to evaluate the outcomes of health and performance assessments. Through practical learning experiences, students will develop the skills necessary to critically assess physical activity levels, design effective measurement protocols, and interpret data for use in promoting health and enhancing performance. This course is essential for those pursuing careers in health promotion, fitness training, and sports science.

Qualifications:

Candidates should 1) hold at least a master’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Management, Business (or related field), 2) share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community, and 3) demonstrate a vital and growing Christian faith. Experience in teaching courses at the college level is preferred.

Salary/Benefits:

Adjunct faculty hold the rank of instructor and are hired on a per-course basis.
